Wages/ Employment
- The Industrial Revolution raised the
living standards for the upper and middle class because goods became more
available. However, the lives of the lower and working class became more
difficult because of the decrease in the employment rate and wages.
- These workers also had a risk of little
job security because of the lower number of available jobs due to the introduction
of machines. Furthermore, because of the lack of skill required to operate these machines, a worker was easily replaced if he was unskilled or not doing his job properly
- After the Industrial Revolution, wealth was no longer dictated by ownership of land, but instead by ownership of factories. This allowed people to have more mobility in the social class instead of having their wealth dictated by their parents. Furthermore, the Industrial Revolution was able to re-balance the distribution of wealth.
